"Is it possible to build affordable housing and, at the same time, revitalize neighborhoods?”

The ability to combine these two features seemed an impossible feat, but in 1979, a solution to this challenge was answered with the creation of the New Rochelle Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation, today known as The NDR Group.  Founded by a small group of visionaries, this not-for-profit development corporation had the confidence of both elected officials and residents of the community and the knowledge and skills to produce the needed housing for working class New Rochelle residents and senior citizens.

A development opportunity presented itself, the corporation financed, and built its first affordable housing development, a 211-unit senior citizens building on Washington Avenue in New Rochelle.  The year was 1983.

This first project was testament to the organization’s firm commitment to its mission:  facilitate and carry out preservation and revitalization of neighborhoods through the provision of affordable housing for working families and senior citizens; by new construction or the rehabilitation of existing buildings.  Today, The NDR Group has expanded its reach and focus, to redevelop neighborhoods and communities throughout Westchester as well as the construction of new, affordable housing for families and senior citizens throughout the New York region.
